Konstantinos Papadopoulos, M.Sc.: 

From 2008 to 2012 Konstantinos Papadopoulos studied mechanical engineering with a focus on design engineering / mechatronics at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering. He then began his studies for the Master of Science – Mechatronics.

During his studies he worked as a student assistant at the ReMech and as a tutor for the course “control technology”. From 2012 to 2014 he worked as a reaserch assistant for industry-connected projects.

At the moment, Konstantinos Papadopoulos conducts research in the field of process technology optimisation, where he identifies better models for the rolling processes in order to develop integrated control systems for the process. It is part of his doctorate which he carries out in coorperation with the university Duisburg-Essen (Prof. Dr.-Ing. M. Jelali).


Manuel Widdel, M.Sc.: 

From 2008 to 2013, Manuel Widdel studied mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen. He then acquired his masters degree in Design & Development. To further deepen his knowledge, he continued to study physical engineering and sciences at the Technical University of Berlin, where he also worked in the field of DEM-simulation. At the ReMech, he is responsible for the supervision of projects and courses for both bachelor and master students.


Julian Kirchhoff, B.Eng.:

Julian Kirchhoff studied from 2013 to 2018 Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Cologne. After his graduation, he decided to participate on the masters program of Mechanical Engineering with a main emphasis on Product Development. Julian joined the ReMech Lab in 2018 as a scientific associate. His areas of responsibility are supervision of student projects and courses for bachelor students as well as research projects.


Tolga Bastürk, B.Eng.:

Tolga Bastürk studied from 2012 to 2017 Automotive Engineering at the Technical University of Cologne. During his studies, he worked as a working student in different engineering fields. After his graduation, he decided to register for the masters program of Mechatronics at the Technical University of Cologne. Tolga joined the ReMech Lab in 2018 as a scientific associate. His areas of responsibility are the supervision of student projects, bachelor thesis and course tutorials for bachelor and master students. 


Robert Rosenthal, B.Eng.:

Robert Rosenthal studied from 2013 to 2018 Mechatronics at the University of Koblenz. During his studies he worked as a trainee at the company ThyssenKrupp Rasselstein GmbH in Andernach. After the completion of his studies, he decided to register for the masters programm Mechatronics at the Technical University of Cologne. Robert joined the ReMech Lab in 2019. His areas of responsibility are supervision of student projects and course tutorials.


Salim Mistrieh, B.Eng.:

Salim Mistrieh studied from 2016 to 2020 Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Cologne. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he decided to study Automation Technology at the Technical University of Cologne. During his studies he worked as a student assistant in the field of Mathematics and Thermodynamics. Salim joined the ReMech Lab in 2020. His area of responsibility is the supervision of course tutorials for bachelor students.

Dr.-Ing. Andreas Bathelt:

From 2006 to 2009 Andreas Bathelt studied for the dual Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Cooperative Education Mannheim together with its partner company Degussa Röhm GmbH & Co KG. In 2011 he began his studies in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Automation Technology and acquired the degree as Master of Science in 2012 from the University of Mannheim.

Between 2012 and 2016, he has been working full time as a research assistant in the ReMech team. His area of responsibility was projects related to the Processing Industry. Since 2016 he is working as a masters program lecturer at the Technical University of Cologne. He holds lectures for Digital Control Theory.


Fabian Witsch, M.Sc.: 

Fabian Witsch initially studied Mathematics and Applications at the Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in the summer of 2007. At the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, he then completed the Bachelor of Engineering – Automotive Engineering by December 2011 and then received his Master of Science – Mechatronics in February 2014.

He started as a research assistant at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in April 2011 and at the ReMech Lab in April 2013. Since 2017, he teaches the course Control Systems and Automation Technology.

Felix Kuthe, B. Eng.:

From 2013 to 2017 Felix Kuthe studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Esslingen. After completion of his studies, he decided to register for the masters program Mechatronics at the Technical University of Cologne. He worked as a scientific associate in the ReMech Lab between 2018 and 2020. His areas of responsibility were the supervision of student projects and course tutorials for bachelor students.


Leonard Rath, M.Sc.: 

Leonard Rath began his studies of Mechanical Engineering in WS 12/13 at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences and finished his degree by September 2016. He finished the masters program of Mechatronics (M.Sc.) in 2019. Between 2016 and 2019 he was working for the ReMech Laboratoy as a scientific associate. His areas of responsibility were the supervision of student projects and course tutorials for bachelor students.


Dr.-Ing. Lou’i Al-Shrouf:

From 1999 Lou’i Al-Shrouf studied at the Polytechnic University Hebron Mechanical Engineering and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Engineering. Between 2006 and 2008, he deepened his knowledge in this field at the University of Duisburg-Essen and received his Master of Science. In July 2014, he completed his doctorate “Development and Implementation of a Reliable Decision Fusion and Pattern Recognition System for Object Detection and Condition Monitoring” under Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. D. Söffker (University Duisburg-Essen).

In the ReMech he has worked since the end of 2012 and has been active with projects in the field of signal processing and pattern recognition. 


Tobias Glaubach, B.Eng.:

After his training as an industrial mechanic Tobias Glaubach studied mechanical engineering at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, reaching the Bachelor of Engineering in October 2013. He then began studying for a Master of Science – Mechatronics.

Since November 2013 he is working as a research assistant part-time for the ReMech team. His field of activity includes the project work with a focus on signal processing.


Torsten Junker, B.Eng.: 

From 2010 to 2014 Torsten Junker studied mechanical engineering at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering. He then began studying for a Master of Science – Mechatronics.
Between October 2013 and April 2014, he worked as a student assistant and since the completion of the Bachelor in May 2014 as a research assistant for the ReMech team and supports the preparation of practical experiments and student projects.


Stefan Knoben, B.Eng.:

Stefan Knoben studied from 2010 to 2014 mechanical engineering focused on renewable energy and reached the Bachelor of Engineering with his thesis “Development and Realization of a Control System for Electrical Actuators based an a Microcontroller” in the ReMech. He then started the Master of Science program Mechatronics in winter semester 2014.

Since the summer of 2013 he supports the ReMech team, first as a student assistant and after graduating as a research assistant. He supports practical experiments and holds tutorials for the courses “Measurement and Control Technology” and “Control and Automation Technology”.


Sören Guntrum, B.Eng.:

2010 Sören Guntrum began the study in mechanical engineering focused on renewable energies and this has ended with his thesis “Modelling, Realisation and Controlling of a two-axis Rocker-Ball-System” and the Bachelor of Engineering degree in the spring of 2014. After that he started with the master’s program Mechatronics.

In the ReMech he is employed since the spring of 2013, first as a student assistant and after graduating as a research assistant. He supports practical experiments and holds tutorials for the courses “Control and Automation Technology ” and “Measurement and Control Technology”.


Philip Meißner, B.Sc.: 

Philip Meißner studied from 2012 to 2015 Biomimicry (B.Sc.) at the Westfälische Hochschule in Bocholt and wrote his Bachelor thesis at the Freie University Berlin about Biorobotics and honey bees. Since September 2015 he is studying Mecatronics (M.Sc.) at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences

He was a research assistant between end of 2016 and august 2017 and was engaged in students projects and industrie-related projects.
