In rolling mills, there is great potential for energy and resource efficiency, and thus to reduce ecological damage and air pollution. An effective contribution can supply new, more efficient automation systems.
Within the project PER-OPTI industry-standard online procedure to solve theoptimization problems are being developed. PER-OPTI stands for “Optimization ofprocess control based on the automatic performance evaluation in modern rolling mills” and is co-chaired by Professors Jelali, Haber, Smajic and Bartz-Beielstein.
Those with partners from industry and academia optimization methods that will be developed are supposed to be used universally for different mill types and product types. Furthermore, to use multi-objective optimization method to allow a flexible consideration of constraints and different optimization objectives.
