The Corona crises significantly affected the education system of many universities and demonstrated the need for digitization. The everyday life of many people has suddenly changed with the start of the state-initiated preventive and protective measures. Sectors that invested early in the digitization of their processes were able to continue their operation with slight restrictions, while large parts of the service sector have been largely paralyzed.

The Technical University of Cologne has taken good preventive measures against the spread of the Corona virus. One of the most significant measures was the introduction of the protected university operations. While affecting the daily teaching routine at the first glance, it opened new possibilities for digital education. In terms of teaching, the transformation from traditional teaching methods to digital teaching methods became an essential aspect to maintain the quality of the lectures.

The Laboratory for Control Engineering and Mechatronics (ReMech) is currently working on full speed on the digitization of the bachelor and master courses in order to continue the high-quality teaching content during the corona crisis. In addition to expanding the content on the TH-internal information and exchange platform ILIAS (lecture content, forums, tests), this includes the use of online meeting services such as ZOOM, DFNconf, MS Teams etc, as well as the development of legally compliant examination concepts.

Students can get more information about digital teaching from the supervisors of the respective courses. ILIAS continues to be the first point of contact for the information exchange.
